The same applies in a balloon basket: the space per person is broadly consistent across basket sizes. In Cappadocia, the vast majority of balloon operators actually use 28-person baskets; some go up to 34. How It Works: From Start to Finish
The experience begins with an early morning hotel pickup - between approximately 04:00 and 06:30 depending on the season. At the launch site, a breakfast box is served while the balloon is laid out and inflated; you can watch the enormous envelope slowly fill with hot air and rise upright. The Civil Aviation Authority (SHGM) assesses weather conditions in the early hours and issues the flight approval. Your pilot conducts a short safety briefing and you board the basket. For approximately one hour you drift over fairy chimneys, valleys and volcanic formations alongside dozens of other balloons in the sky. After landing, the traditional champagne toast and personalised flight certificate ceremony conclude the experience before your transfer vehicle returns you to your hotel.
Safety: SHGM Oversight and Flight Insurance

Meteorology experts and control pilots assess radar data and live weather reports before dawn each morning; if surface wind speed exceeds 10 knots (approximately 18.5 km/h) or upper-level wind exceeds 20 knots, a Red Flag is declared and all flights across every operator are cancelled without exception.
